Ethereum: Two parallel systems?

In Ethereum, the most important competition project to Bitcoins, it comes to the formation of sects. Suddenly there coexist two systems. The process highlights the pitfalls of the highly acclaimed art. In early May was still all right. When the colorful world of Block Chain Pendant met at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, there was a secret star – a lanky young man who strolled in white t-shirt through the halls and responded to questions with fast shut geratterten box sets. His name: Vitalik Buterin, age 22 year, born in Moscow, grew up in Toronto, his foundation Ethereum at home in the Swiss canton Zug.

Ethereum – the name sounds esoteric. And the concept that explained a buddy of Buterin visitors with a Russian accent seemed to be a kind of miracle. So wonderful that bankers and consultants rushed it. Accenture closed at the opportunity to partner with Ethereum. But now everything is different. After a sinister hacker attack on Ethereum Buterin broke a taboo and let the system reprogram partly to make the attack as it were undone. Some of his most consistent supporters saw not a trace since the and under the name Classic Ethereum the old program.

Now there are two parallel block Chains in Buterins Reich. And that threatens confidence in the entire block chain technology, which was known by the Bitcoins to undermine. After all, the idea behind this technique is to create a decentralized accounting, which can be changed later and never clearly and objectively exists independent of a central authority and thus free from human disputes. But the sects from Ethereum this principle is now being questioned.

The block chain was initially created as a basis of Bitcoins, so as an alternative payment system. It is a software, in which anyone who docked at the system automatically gets the same information. Each payment is recorded in these electronic accounts and can not be changed later. To break the system, hackers have to get together with an extremely high computing power, thereby forcing the capacity of honest participants in the knees – which is considered very unlikely.
