A growing number of Bitcoin enthusiasts try to integrate Bitcoin more and more into daily life. So it’s not unsual that one or two think about the possibility to be paid in Bitcoin, too. But not every employer offer this option and for the most it will be too complicated to pay just one employee in Bitcoin. Moreover just a low percentage of the employer bear upon Bitcoin as a payment method. So would you be paid in Bitcoin and can your employer make it possible?

As a payroll firm said, in Canada a growing number of workers choosing to be paid in Bitcoin. So far it’s just a small but steady growing number of employees which choose Bitcoin instead the Canadian dollar. But with the growing popularity of the krypto-currency the interest in Bitcoin increase.

Shrad Rao, CEO of the payroll firm Wagepoint, said that the firm offering the Bitcoin payment in November 2013 as a side project and did not expect any take-up. But today there are employees from 10 firms who have signed up for the alternative payment and many more employees are interested in it.

Rao said:

“What’s interesting is that we’ve actually had customers come to us because of the (Bitcoin) integration, which we were not expecting at all.”

Also in the USA, where Wagepoint also operates, they get about five inquiries for Bitcoin payment per month without launching a such an option for it. This shows that payments in an alternative currency get more and more interesting for employees and employers would be wise to offer this options for their workers.
